The main ones being your own community and others who, like your own, only talk amongst themselves. E.g. http://evo.caltech.edu/evoGate/about.jsp<br /><br />The trouble they all have is that they always want to give a community a (usually quite meaningless) DNS name, like http://ddc.typepad.com/ or one which normally gets buried inside some institutional silo like OCLC or NSF.<br /><br />If only we might attempt to give them a name like www.025.431.edu and aggregate the kinds of tools which each community prefers (cause they will all prefer different combinations of tools,and use different languages to point at an IP address). E.g.
