Blog Salon is on, now at 6:00 pm

Still Sunday, Jan. 22.
Still OCLC Blue Suite.
Now at 6:00pm (ish)!
In honor of Texas and especially of the Guadalupe river that managed to miss my Dad's house by mere inches, we will be having chips and salsa instead of pretzels this time.
Come one, come all, come blogger, come soon-to-be blogger, come I've-run-out-of-ideas-blogger, come I-just-want-my-photo-with-Steven-Cohen-blogger...

I promise nothing! But I do applaud your wiley ways of creative thinking around library fundraising! But didn't I hear that Library Journal paparazzi planned to storm the party?

'Reeno! We could build a new library if we did a per-Cohen-picture fundraising model. Brilliant. And, thanks to the IGAs for moving the time. What hotel? Same as where the Prez's reception is? If so, how about we organize a flash mob at the reception, then scoot to the real shindig at Casa OCLC?

I think we should sit as a group and all silently hold up a huge BlogPerson sign. Someone volunteer, right here, right now.

Hotels I'll have to get back to you. We would be in such luck if it was in the same hotel...which makes me think it will likely be across town! (But if we're lucky, it will be a beautiful, WARM meander through the riverwalk.)

Alas, if only I could come to San Antonio, I would volunteer to hold the sign, Norma Rae style. . . instead I will just think of you all galivanting about--and of course follow the photostreams, blog reports, and other wonders of the modern library conference world.

I'm glad that you able to adjust the time, and hope that the schedule helped. Let me know when you plan summer, and I'll share that schedule, too!

Keeping everyone on their toes...you will all be pleased to know that life never does run smooth, even in Dublin, Ohio, land of WorldCat and additional librarian wonders. (Dewey, for example...)
When we changed the time, we also changed the suite color. Now we're in the RED suite.
But George has volunteered to put a sign on the blue suite that says Join us in the Red Suite and once you get there, we'll all smash together royally and make a nice Purpley color.

er, blue, red... where is this suite?

Noting Rochelle's comment: While I have no inside knowledge, the odds aren't bad. I'm guessing the OCLC Suites are in one of the twin Marriotts (Rivercenter/Riverwalk), and chances are good that the Prez Reception will be there as well. Based on past experience, which, pace Roy T., shouldn't control us but does inform us...

Staying in a Headquarters Hotel can be frantic and noisy, but it sure is convenient. (Yes, I'll be in one of them--'center, I think.)

I assume that sneaking up to the OCLC booth and singing a few bars of the appropriate Joni Mitchell song will yield the room number, which I know (also based on experience) that you guys won't know until you get there, because Marriott won't assign it until then.

[Chances of my actually singing any portion of "Blue" at the OCLC booth or anywhere else at Midwinter: See the flying pigs?]

President's Program Reception is in the Marriott Riverwalk, Salon C/D. The Rivercenter is where the big shots are. (I guess that makes me one.) The good news is that the Riverwalk is the one which is actually closer to the Convention Center (according the map and my memory, feeble though it may be).

Marriott RiverCenter, Red suite.
I look forward to Walt's Joni Mitchell rendition on Sunday at 6 pm!
