Technorati's "State of the Blogosphere" report

David Sifry, the founder and CEO, of Technorati has a blog (well of course he does!), and yesterday he posted Part 1 of the most recent "State of the Blogosphere" report. He's been doing these every six months. The growth numbers are pretty stunning.
  • the blogosphere is doubling in size every five and a half months
  • 80,000 blogs are created every day
  • about 55% of blogs are active, a number that has stayed consistent for a year (which means more blogs are active)

He promises to post Part 2 today, commenting on posting volume which he says is a better statistic for tracking the growth of blogging.
